Alina Liu (12) moved to Montreal, Canada, before moving to Memphis, Tenn. She lived in Canada for four years before moving to Memphis because of her father’s new job at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

White Station High School’s Muslim Student Association traveled to the Tennessee state capitol to participate in a Day on the Hill. Some members were able to sit in on a mock house session and debate a bill, getting a chance to share their own opinions.

Zahra Altareb, Viewpoint Team Leader

Zahra Altareb is a second-year writer for The Scroll and a senior. She is interested in politics, human rights, advocacy and journalism. She is the co-chair of the MICAH Youth Council, co-president of Students for Civic Empowerment, President of the Muslim Student Association, Secretary of ArtFlow and a member of the debate team. In her free time, Zahra falls into rabbit holes on YouTube, reads or paints.

He graduated from Rhodes College with a degree in political science and later attended the University of Memphis for graduate school, studying political science and education.
