Celeste Cruz (11) and Dontae Jordan (11) are this year’s junior class officers. The two plan to redefine what it means to lead with passion and purpose.

In an era of dynamic change and innovation, the Class of ‘25 has elected not one, but two class officers for their junior year. Meet the dynamic duo Celeste Cruz (11) and Dontae Jordan (11), the individuals entrusted with leading their class to a year of growth and achievement.

Celeste Cruz had always wanted to be a class officer, but hesitated in previous years. However, with the encouragement of a fellow student, she decided to join the race.

“I guess I was too scared to do it alone. [I had] encouragement from Jenny Nguyen, and then we did it together.” Cruz said.

As one of the junior class officers, Celeste Cruz is dedicated to uniting the student body and ensuring a year full of exciting events; with a particular focus on making the school year less stressful.

“[My goals are to] just bring the grade together and try to have as much fun as possible… [and] trying to make junior [year] less stressful [than] it already is going to be,” Cruz said.

Similarly, Jordan ran for class officer because it was something he always wanted to do. He held the role of sophomore class vice president over the 2022-2023 school year, which he believes provided him with the knowledge and experience needed in order to fill the position again as a junior. Jordan aims to create a more enjoyable junior year, with events scheduled throughout the year and the goal of bringing the student body together.

“I’m already talking with peers about ways to promote better welfare amongst us,” Jordan said.

Both Jordan and Cruz have specific goals they hope to achieve, such as organizing events for Trunk or Treat and focusing on community service and mental health initiatives. They intend to lead their peers through a year marked by unity, engagement and an emphasis on well-being.
