KIRANA RICHMOND//THE SCROLL
(Left to right) Kirana Richmond, Sophia Turner, Chitkala Alli, and Shania Moore are J3s this year. They have been on staff since their sophomore year.

For the last issue each year, it is tradition for returning Scroll staff members to take on the responsibilities of that year’s outgoing group of seniors. Therefore, as I’m writing this, my role as Editor-in-Chief has started to shed and I have sat back to watch contenders for next year’s leadership run the show.

The Scroll has been a little home hiding in the halls of White Station to me, and three fellow seniors have continued alongside this journey with me for the past three years. Chitkala Alli, the outgoing managing editor, was just a writer like me on the News and Features section during our sophomore year. Our other third-year journalists also wrote with us in the News and Features section – Kirana Richmond, Head of Promotions, and Shania Moore, Head of Layout. Each of these journalists have been a key part of each issue of the Scroll since Fall 2021.

As all three of us are in the last ten days of our K-12 career, we closed out our contributions to the Scroll in the fifth Scroll issue of the 2023-2024 school year. Though we all started as just Feature writers, the four of us combined have written for Arts and Entertainment, Sports, and Viewpoint as well, in addition to contributing to all three of our special teams (Social Media, Copyediting, and Layout) and the Podcast.

On behalf of the four of us, we are beyond thrilled to have experienced and worked on the Scroll together for three years. Journalism has gifted us all with skills we will continue to use in college and our adult life. Best of luck to upcoming and returning staff!
