When you think about Christmas, what comes to mind? Twinkling lights, a warm fireplace and steaming hot chocolate all make up the iconic culture of the holiday. But, some argue that Christmas songs and movies play the most important role in kindling the festive spirit. These timeless melodies and heartwarming tales are the loom that weaves families and communities together during the holiday season. From the classic jingles that echo through bustling shopping centers to the iconic movies projected on family television screens, they create a shared experience and a festive atmosphere—the true essence of the holiday spirit.

Tamia Anderson (12)

“I think my favorite holiday movie is like… I don’t know. I like a lot of movies, but I feel like if I had to pick a holiday movie, I guess, I don’t want to be basic but “Home Alone” is pretty good.”

Nidhi Larson (12)

“I guess my favorite song would be Mariah Carey’s. I hear it all the time, so it’s kind of nostalgic. For [a] movie, I think “Home Alone” is the best from the ones I’ve seen.”
