Vouching for pickle and peanut butter sandwiches: a review of weird food combinations

We all know that one kid who brings something to the lunch table that’s so jaw-droppingly disgusting that you want to vomit on the spot. It’s not even something you have never tried before: it’s a cursed combination. It’s something that no normal person should salivate over. Naturally, I wanted to put my taste buds to the test and take the challenge to try some popular weird food combinations to see if they’re worth it.

I decided to start with milk and coke because it seems like it would be the least troubling to eat without vomiting. When I sipped on the concoction, it reminded me of a watered-down coke float. It wasn’t disgusting, but the aftertaste of milk was strange. I wouldn’t have that again.

I thought that I would hate the pickles and peanut butter sandwich. It definitely sounds like the grossest combination out of the three I have tried, but this snack had the perfect balance of salty and sweet. The texture surprisingly did not bother me since it reminded me of dipping apples into peanut butter. The bread masked some of the taste of the pickle too, which helped me forget that I was even eating a pickle in the first place.

Finally, the soy sauce ice cream was also surprisingly normal to eat. Soy sauce tastes salty anyways, so when combined with ice cream, it just tastes like salty ice cream. It almost tastes like there was caramel in there. I think that I put in a little too much because soy sauce very easily overpowered the ice cream, but with the right amount, it would not taste that bad.

In conclusion, next time you see a weird food combination, don’t be afraid to try it; they might be onto something.
