King Princess Cheap Queen Album Review
On February 14, 2020, King Princess re-released her deluxe album Cheap Queen that was originally released on October 25, 2019.
The deluxe album includes the original album’s 13 songs plus five previously unreleased songs that include “All Dressed in White”, “Forget About It”, “Best Friend”, “Back of a Cab” and “Ohio”.
According to Genius, King Princess said that the album title “Cheap Queen” is “an homage to my community. It’s a drag term for someone who is resourceful, who makes something out of nothing, who is a creator on a budget.”
Some of the most popular songs that fans liked on the deluxe album include “Ohio”, “Cheap Queen”, “Ain’t Together” and “Best Friend.”
On the meaning of her lyrics for the song “Ain’t Together”, King Princess said, “I like the idea that in this song, it’s fully that y’all love each other but the commitment element of it isn’t solid.”
Another hit that King Princess’s fans were surprised to see and hear included in the deluxe album was the song “Ohio” that she has been performing live since her first EP, Make My Bed.
In most of the deluxe album’s songs, King Princess’s main source and inspiration come from her relationships and heartbreak from the relationship.
“Whether a relationship is public or not, it’s real. This is my therapy,” King Princess said. “I’m gonna write about getting my heart smashed.”
