The Spartan Golf Team is having a tee-rific seasons so far. With 20 victories under their belts, the team is preparing to go to the state tournament. The state tournament is at WillowBrook Golf Club and lasts from September 30th to October 16th. 

The team mostly competes at the three public courses in Memphis but have also competed at the Tournament Players Club in Southwind, where professional golfers play. 

“We as a team have gotten a lot more consistent, which is a good thing,” Ben Nganga (11).

Nganga has been playing golf since he was 11. His dad and The First Tee of Memphis, an organization for junior golfers, are what got him interested in golf. He has achieved a best score in his two matches. He says that his playing quality has been improving since the start of the season.

“I am optimistic about my game considering that it has been slowly getting back to where it was during the summer, but we will see what the future holds,” Nganga said. 

As the State Championships approaches, the team is working harder than ever to improve.
