Sparta opens their doors for parents
A new year means another set of teachers and classes for parents to get to know, and Open House was the perfect opportunity for Spartan parents to do so.
On August 29, 2019, White Station opened its doors to over 600 parents and students. The meeting started in the auditorium for a quick briefing with the new principal, Mrs. Carrye Holland, where she touched on the topics of expectations, important dates, and administration for the 2019-2020 school year.
Afterward, parents visited classrooms of various teachers to learn what the curriculum holds for the next year. They also had the opportunity to ask teachers about how their kids are performing and behaving in class.
PIE representative and parent of George Metcalf (12), Corrie Metcalf, took this opportunity to learn what senior year has to offer.
“WSHS Open House 2019 is such a great opportunity for parents to walk through their child’s schedule. As a Spartan parent I’ve always appreciated Open House,” Corrie Metcalf said. “It’s a great time to meet your child’s teachers, find out what other kids are in their classes by hanging out with their parents, and hear what teachers expect for the year.”
As usual, parents were confused about how to navigate the labyrinth known as White Station, but luckily, E-Board was there to save the day.
“It was great seeing all the parents there getting involved in the school,” Jackson Ruddick (10), E-Board Commissioner of Publicity, said.
