Movie in the Making

Many White Station teachers and students are involved in the current production of It Just Might Work, a comedy written, produced, and edited by sophomore Tyler Pilkinton.  It is being filmed at White Station, along with other Memphis locations.

The 80-minute movie is about a high school sophomore who attempts to make video skits with his group of friends.  The characters engage in a YouTube war and deal with personal drama.

Pilkinton and sophomore Richard Murray purchased equipment online from Ebay, Amazon, and a local shop.  The estimated budget for this project is $1500.

Pilkinton hopes to enter the movie into the film category of Scholastics Art & Writing Awards.  He thought of the plot last summer, wrote the script in the fall and began filming with a group of friends this February.  They are almost finished filming and have begun the editing process.

“This movie was way planned out,” Pilkinton said.  Compared to two films he previously made, “it’s like a Hollywood film.”

Despite the stress of shooting the film, Pilkinton looks forward to the final product.

Pilkinton’s teacher Charles Berlin has been supporting the film “[Pilkinton] is a pro,” Berlin said, “he is self-taught.”

Pilkinton plans to upload the movie to YouTube this summer.

“It would be ideal to have a viewing of it in the [school] auditorium if possible,” he said.

White Station can support these students by watching the finished product on YouTube this summer.
