It’s that time of year again, ladies and gentlemen. Grab your dates quickly, because prom is approaching. White Station High School’s prom will be April 5, 2014 at Appling Manor. Dress for the red carpet, because this year’s theme is Hollywood Glam.

The first and most important step in preparing for prom is finding a date. Once you have that special person in mind, find a neat way to ask him or her – and yes, it is perfectly acceptable for a girl to ask a guy to prom.

One senior went the extra mile in asking his girlfriend to prom. During his college football signing ceremony, senior Grant Lewis called for his girlfriend, Shelby Headley (12), to stand.

“I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I never would have even had this opportunity to sign without Him. And there’s also been one person special to me that’s been supporting me from day one,” he said during his speech. When Headley stood up, Lewis had friends stand up with a sign that read “Prom?”

The next step in preparing for prom is finding the correct attire. Boys, tuxedos are always the way to go. Whether you rent or buy, Guy’s Formal Wear, American Tuxedo, and Men’s Wearhouse are ideal places in Memphis to find your tuxedo. Girls, prom is the perfect night to express a sense of style and personality in your dress. 31 Dresses, David’s Bridal, and Dillard’s all boast a range of prices.

After shopping, make sure you save enough money for the next step – transportation. If you are looking to go with a group of people, a party bus or limousine is a fun option. Try Sterling Limosine, Tennesse Limosine, or T-Star Limosines & Coaches.

The final step in preparing for prom is very important – reservations. Whether it is your appointment for nails, hair, or make up, you need to schedule as soon as possible Some good nail salons are Diva Nails & Spa, Gould’s, and Pavo Salon Spa. Spots fill up faster the closer it gets to proms.

Gentlemen, treat your date to a nice dinner. Make reservations in advance to allow for the perfect dinner. Among others, Ciao Bella, Firebirds, and J. Alexander’s all host dinners for big groups.

Prom is supposed to be a night to remember. Headley said yes to Lewis, and they have already begun to prepare for April 5. Do your research and plan ahead for a great night!
