White Station inducts juniors into National Honor Society
On Thursday, April 11, juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society, a program designed to honor students’ academic achievement.
The program started with the lights dimming and past National Honor Society(NHS) members, including President Ricki Le, lighting the candles of Leadership, Scholarship and Service.
When juniors walked towards the auditorium stage to be inducted, they were guided by past NHS members while their achievements were listed. This gave seniors an opportunity to appreciate the program as they passed the torch to juniors.
“It’s amazing to reflect on the involvement and impact that each individual has on our school community,” Devin Dearmore (12) said.
Juniors had many reasons for joining NHS, but a prevailing reason seemed to be the prestige it holds on college applications.
“I wanted to be a part of a group of people who are recognized for their academics as well as their help in the community. It’s a good opportunity, and colleges love it,” Savannah Short(11) said.
