Ms. Young, ACT Prep
1. How long have you been teaching?
“This is my sixth year teaching.”
2. What’s your favorite thing about teaching at White Station?
“I think that the students are really wonderful… and it’s nice to teach students that are that motivated to better their ACT score.”
3. What’s something students don’t know about you?
“I have a rescue Pomeranian named Papoose that I’m obsessed with. She’s beautiful. She’s the love of my life.”
4. What’s your life philosophy (life quote)?
“Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.”
Sergeant Major Bolden, ROTC
1. How long have you been teaching?
“Two years, because I came here straight from retirement.”
2. What’s your favorite thing about teaching at White Station?
“I just love imparting what I’ve learned in my 32 years [in the army] down to the cadettes in the classroom, and not just the marching and everything that we do, but also the academics that we do.”
3. What’s something students don’t know about you?
“I don’t think they’ve really gotten how much I like to teach—not yet.”

“Always give your best, and then the best will come back in return to you.”
Ms. Wright, Math
1. How long have you been teaching?
“I’ve been teaching for eight years now.”
2. What’s your favorite thing about teaching at White Station?
“Seeing those ‘aha’ moments when the student is like, ‘Oh yeah! I understand now.’ Those ‘aha’ moments are when I know I have done my job.”

“My age.”

“Love the life you live, live the life you love.”
Mrs. Wilson, Family Consumer Science

“This is year 36.”

“I think the willingness for students to accept me as the new teacher…I’m just here to weave a piece of me into the fabric of your life.”

“I’m Native American.”

“When you dig a hole for yourself, find the best way to fill it in and sod it over so as few people as possible know you have made that mistake.”

“I’m actually fresh out of graduate school. I just graduated from the University of Memphis last year. This is my first year.”

“All the different kids. I get to meet a lot of different types of students, and so that’s really fun, just to get a new experience.”

“I love football.”

“This is my very first year.”

“I like the students.”

“I’m an aspiring writer, and I went to law school for a year.”

“Just this semester.”

“I’d say the support from all the other teachers, and the kids are really silent, so I enjoy them.”

“I intentionally keep my politics out of it, which is tough in economics.”

“The variety of students.”

“I can drive an eighteen-wheeler.”

“This is my third year.”

“I love being able to support my students and their personalities and seeing the variety of types of kids that are here. It’s a very different culture than a lot of other schools.”

“I’m crazy.”
