It’s that time of year again. Dresses for sale. Deals for tanning. Heavy advertising at hair and nail salons. It’s prom season, Spartans.

For ladies and gentlemen, prom season can be a bit stressful. So here are a few ideas on how to have your best prom.

The first matter of business is getting dress. . Some places have sales going on, others don’t. But who says you have to buy a new dress? Sometimes, your friends or family members have perfectly good prom dresses that could use a night out; Ask around- the best gems are hidden. There are always good deals online, and also great prom dresses around the country. Shopping online is one outlet for getting a dress. Just be sure you are certain of your size or round up. You can always tailor our dress to fit you smaller, but you can’t make it bigger.

If you prefer trying your dress on before buying, it’s good to have an idea of where you want to go. The Oak Court Mall has many stores prepped and ready to sell dresses. Places like Windsor, Macy’s and Dillard’s all have a large selection of dresses, all varying. No one dress it the same.

After you have found your dress, it’s time to start worrying about your hair and makeup situation. Many beauty and hair salons offer a complete makeover. So, while you’re cutting those split ends, go ahead and ask if your salon offers full make overs. Better yet, there are many people, even at White Station, who are willing and able to do great makeovers, sometimes for free. Check out the theater or art departments at White Station; send out a plea on social media- someone is bound to answer your cry for help.

For guys, shopping is generally a breeze. Be sure to ask your date, if you are going with one, what color her dress is in order to match it. It is common to rent a tux, or you can buy a whole suit. Tuxedo or suit places in Memphis are Men’s Wearhouse, Guy’s Formal Wear, and American Tuxedo.

Corsages and boutonnières can be found at florist shops and grocery stores. A corsage is a band of flowers worn by your date, and a boutonniere is a decorated flower worn on your jacket. They can be pretty expensive, so look around and price them out before paying . Also, make sure to order or purchase these two important prom items quickly- they will sell out. You run the risk of upsetting your date if she does not get a corsage.

Now, planning the big night. Prom 2015 will be held on April 25th at Minglewood Hall from 8 to midnight with a masquerade theme.

While food is offered at the dance, it’s never a bad idea to throw a mini party- before leaving. Gather a group of four to six friends. Everyone could pitch in to rent out a limo for the night, meet at a central location and eat before the big party. If a limo is too much money, you carpool with people. And create a prom playlist for the car ride there.
