White Station High School currently does not have a men’s lacrosse team for students to join, so the Lausanne Collegiate School lacrosse team allowed players from our school to play for this spring season. Lausanne, the at-large lacrosse team for east Memphis, allows any player who is cut from another team or whose school does not have a squad to play lacrosse for their school. Nine White Station boys have decided to join, and they, along with the others, have high hopes for the season ahead.

Coach Steven Shipowitz, a first year coach of the group, is eager to create new memories this season with his players. Along with White Station students, such as Padethkane Rasasack (12), who have been on the team in previous years, Shipowitz has been recruiting players from White Station High to join the team.

“White Station has a great athletic talent pool to draw from,” Shipowitz said. “They used to have a team, so it makes sense that I recruit heavily at White Station.”

The team consists of members from a diverse amount of schools and homeschool programs; however, this does not affect their performance, since all the members share a common love of the sport.

“Team chemistry isn’t affected by which school a player attends. We all work well together,” Rasasack said.

For many of the players, such as Ben Sharabi (9), this is their first time playing on a varsity level lacrosse team. They are prepared to put in the work to make the best out of this opportunity and learn new skills along the way.

“I think it will bring a new experience to my friendships, and to me, for it will be something new which I always try to do,” Sharabi said.

The team’s first home game is Mar. 4 against Briarcrest Christian School. They are hopeful for a success season based on the determination the boys already display for this sport.
