Model UN Members organize conference at White Station

Last Friday, Model United Nations held a meeting to plan the upcoming WSHSMUN conference that will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22. This year will be the fourth year this conference will be held at White Station. The meeting was lead by Arjun Raj and Ahmed Motiwala, the Co-Secretary Generals of the club.

With most of the conference planned, the staff met to simply tie up loose ends, such as ordering pizza and name tags. This year, WSHSMUN will feature five committees, with topics ranging from the War of the Roses to water-borne illnesses.

Delegates in the two War of the Roses committees are separated into either the House of Lancaster or the House of York, two rival families vying for the English throne.

For newer delegates, students had the option of joining the World Health Organization committee to find solutions for  water-borne illnesses in Africa. In the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, delegates will work to stop separatist movements in Oceania. Lastly in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council, they will debate over the ISIS black market and green energy funding.

The staff wrapped up the meeting, ready for six schools across Memphis to compete at White Station this Saturday.
