The boys participate in drills at practice preparing for the upcoming season.

With the kickoff of the 2018 season, the White Station Boys Soccer Team is learning from the previous year’s trials, and hope to advance to state and ultimately win and grow as a team.

This year, under new leadership, the boys are taking on a revitalized outlook on what it means to play.

Captain Tucker Dunaway (12), along with other seniors, leads the team at practices to help them take the sport more seriously. Dunaway has been playing since he was three years old and teaches his teammates the skills he has learned from playing on a competitive team. He encourages them to dedicate themselves so the team will have a better chance at reaching this year’s goals.

“Last year one of our problems was we were never serious. To help this year, I try and show them that everything that we do matters and it’s important to the development of the team.” Dunaway said.

Jacob Hernandez (12), who has been playing soccer since he was ten years old, was encouraged to play by a few of his friends.

“My friend had always told me and my friends we should play, and one of our friend’s dad made a team at our church field, and we all got together and just started playing.”

Hernandez began playing with White Station Soccer last year and hopes to contribute to this season’s team by setting his sights on his goal: winning state.

The team has rejuvenated their love for soccer and hope to show that this season by progressing to the state tournament.
